Stakes Quinella For Rockmount! The Listed Quezette stakes for 3 year old fillies was run at Caulfield on August 18th and the result was of great satisfaction to all of us at Rockmount. Having her second run this campaign Bel Mer just lasted in a very fast run race after being cleverly ridden by Craig “Froggy” Newitt. Trained to the minute by Mick Price, Bel Mer’s victory was reminiscent of some of Halibery’s wins, another farm graduate from years gone by. By Bel Esprit out of the At Talaq mare Drop Anchor, the filly has a long list of distinguished owners including Vinery Stud, Brian Singer, Alan Green, Greg Perry, Neville Gibson, Dr Bob Taranto, John Radley and George Sturesteps. It will be a big night out if she could snare a group one! Only a head behind the winning filly was last season’s Blue Diamond winner Sleek Chassis who made up a stack of ground to just miss out on first prize. The Bob and Rosemary Scarborough owned filly was having her first run back this preparation after a spell at Wood Nook farm under the watchful eye of Bob Norris and a five week pretraining regime with Chris Harvey and the team here at Rockmount. Sleek Chassis’s immediate goal this spring will be the 1000 Guineas and on her first up run you would expect her to be close to favouritism on the day. |
