First Win For $2Million Sale-Topper
The most expensive yearling colt sold in Australasia in 2010 opened his winning account at Cranbourne on Friday. The Mark Kavanagh trained son of Zabeel was resuming from a spell at Rockmount and jumped smartly before being eased back to settle midfield. Allowed to find his feet by Michael Rodd, Zephyron unwound a big finish out wide to power home in the straight for a very soft win in the 1300 metre maiden at his third race start. A half-brother to stakes- placed Ardeche, Zephyron is the second winner from the stakes-winning Danehill (USA) mare Diamond Like, a sister to Group 1 winner Viking Ruler from multiple Group 1 winner Tristalove. Of course, it's the legendary Eight Carat (GB) family which has produced countless Group 1 winners and champions such as Octagonal and Viscount.
