Yosei causes a boilover in the Sires

Caulfield trainer Stuart Webb experienced his biggest success as a trainer when the $18 chance Yosei took out the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday, April 10.

Webb said Yosei had done a phenomenal job this preparation and the Group 1 win was beyond his and the filly's connections wildest dreams.

"She has just kept stepping up, " he said" Today was actually the first race we've planned".

"She was actually going to the paddock at Rockmount after her first start at Benalla but she just kept coming up and taking the next step".

Winning rider Michelle Payne said Yosei's effort was amazing after being in a dogfight down the entire straight.

"She's only tiny but she's all heart,"Payne said. "We travelled midfield early on but they kept getting off the fence and we kept improving".

Owned and bred by Rockmount's master farrier John Pittard, Yosei will now push on towards the Champagne Stakes.
