The royally-bred 4yo mare, who was pretrained here at Rockmount, turned what looked to be the most competitive race on the card into a rout. Given a positive ride by Luke Nolen from an outside barrier, Typhoon Tracy moved smoothly to the lead at the 300 metres and the margin kept widening. When the judge called a halt, Typhoon Tracy had 4 ¾-lengths to spare over Lady Lynette by with Zarita three-quarters of a length back in third place It was the second Group 1 winner on the day for Nolen and trainer Peter Moody after Headway scored a last stride win in the Coolmore Stud Stakes. It was the fifth stakes success and the second at the elite level for Typhoon Tracy following her victory in the Coolmore Classic in Sydney. Her overall record now stands at 7 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 10 starts and joins her younger stablemate Headway in the millionaires club with earnings of $1,184,200. “Trained at these distances there’s not many in the land that can beat her, Moody said. “Words can’t describe her for me. She makes my job very easy, she’s a supreme athlete and she’s never had a day’s trouble in her life.” “I erred earlier by taking her down a Cox Plate path,” Moody revealed. “She deserved her chance to be brought back to these sprint mile trips. “It’s going to take a special horse to beat her anywhere I think.”
