Kroner Makes The Grade

Cups king Bart Cummings has won plenty of big races and he was only too happy to share one today when promising sprinter Kroner dead heated with Mentality in the Group Two Premier Stakes at Rosehill today.

“He is an all rounder,” Cummings said of Kroner. “He is very good at the short distances.”

All things taken into account Kroner did a magnificent job to sprint home and share the prize considering the other dead heater, who he met at level weights, had a Group One win on his resume and over $1.9 million.

Cummings went to $225,000 to secure the son of Viking Ruler from the draft of Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud.

The just turned five-year-old is one of three winners from the grand producing Zabeel mare Monroe Magic.

As well as Kroner she is the dam of the Group One AJC Derby winner Headturner- a winner of over $1.5 million in prize money, and Rockmount’s unraced two-year-old in Anacheeva.

Anacheeva will return to pretraining next week and will hopefully live up to the achievements of his siblings.
