Cats Whisker Back To Form Quality Fusaichi Pegasus filly Cats Whisker bounced back to score a good win for the Mark Kavanagh stable at Flemington on Saturday finishing strongly to take out the open fillies event over 1400 metres. Runner-up in the Group One MRC Thousand Guineas back in the spring to Gallica, Cats Whisker has always shown immense talent and with two runs under her belt was cherry ripe for this assignment. Ridden by apprentice jockey Billy Egan, who was able to claim 3kg from her original impost of 59kg, Cats Whisker was inclined to over-race at times but settled well enough to produce her best when it counted. “She has the class and was just too good for them,” said Merv Harvey, stable foreman for Mark Kavanagh. The Rockmount pretrainer has the tidy record of three wins and three placings from nine starts with prize money in excess of $240,000. |
