Aussie Bred Sprinter Fires In US

Australian bred Red Ransom entire Red Arrow claimed his first Black Type victory in North America on Saturday when taking out the Group Three Los Angeles Handicap on the all weather track with another Aussie bred in Dehere Again finishing third.

Fourth at his previous outing in the Listed Golden Gate Sprint on March 21, the John Sadler trained Red Arrow improved on that effort to lead all the way in carving out the six furlongs in 1:08.92.

He held a margin of three-quarters of a length at the finish over Paul’s Hope with Aussie bred Dehere gelding Dehere Again closing for third.

Now raced by American based owners Gary and Cecil Barber, Red Arrow has the overall record of four wins and five placings from 15 starts with prize money of $US175,482 and was last seen in Australia in August last year when finishing third in the Group Three MRC Bletchingly Stakes.

Previously trained by Anthony Cummings and pretrained at Rockmount prior to his departure to the US, Red Arrow always showed good ability and it’s no surprise to see him measuring up to stakes class in California.

A $225,000 purchase from the Vinery draft at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Red Arrow is a half brother to stakes winner Able Choice being from former star racemare Lady Jakeo, a dual Group One winning daughter of Last Tycoon.
