Stravinsky mare and Rockmount pretrainer Miss Maren is in a rare vein of form at present, the striking chestnut notching her fourth straight win when beating colts and geldings to win the Group Three MRC Easter Cup at Caulfield on Saturday over 2000 metres.

The Mick Price trained Miss Maren settled midfield for champion jockey Glen Boss and accelerated impressively in the straight to defeat Raffaello by more than a length.

“She’s a pleasure to ride,” Boss said.

“I thought she went better today than in her previous three wins.”

Miss Maren first tasted Black Type success in a Listed race in Adelaide two starts back and tuned up for this harder assignment with an emphatic win in mares company at Caulfield on March 28 with connections now planning to come to Sydney and on to Brisbane.

A $160,000 purchase from the draft of Cressfield at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for Bruce Perry Bloodstock, Miss Maren has won six races from 17 starts earning $241,833 with the best still to come.
