Skye Gold's Family Gets A Bolt

Trainer Gary Portelli earned his third success in the $250,000 Listed Black Opal Stakes on March 8th when Delago Bolt overcame an outside barrier and a tardy start to power home by 2 ¼ lengths. The colt’s combined earnings of $226,300 now ensures him of a Golden Slipper start.

Delago Bolt is the third foal of the Barathea mare Bardego who was a dual stakes winner herself as a two-year-old. Bardego is a three parts sister to Rockmounts Skye Gold, both mares being out of Devil’s Gold and both by a son of the great Sadlers Wells, Skye Gold by Galileo and, as mentioned, Bardego by Barathea.
