Brilliant Return for MM Record Priced Filly

The Listed MRC Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday marked the return of several smart three year-old fillies, with victory going to Rockmount pretrainer Viennese, Snitzel’s little sister and a $1,4 million purchase at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

In the history books as the most expensive filly ever sold at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the Lee Freedman trained filly travelled wide in the run but finished off with a great burst to take the 1100 metre event by nearly two lengths.

“I liked her win as she was three deep facing the breeze and finished off her race really well,” said Freedman.

“She’s improved a great deal and physically strengthened up, so if she can run 1600 metres she’d definitely be a Guineas filly.”

Secured by John Ferguson Bloodstock for Darley Australia, Viennese (pictured as a yearling) has done a fine job in winning three races and placing twice from just six starts earning $158,600 and as a stakes-winning full sister to a Group One winning young sire like Snitzel is worth every penny of her purchase price.

Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, Viennese was bred by Francis Naude and is by champion sire Redoute’s Choice from the grand producing mare Snippets’ Lass, who sadly passed away last spring after foaling a colt by Fastnet Rock.
