Group 1 Greatness The sky could be the limit for Light Fantastic who has progressed from a country maiden victory to winning the Group 1 Cadbury Guineas in the space of 33 days. The gelded son of Danehill Dancer now has the impressive record of 4 starts for 4 wins and over $650,000 in prize money. Light Fantastic’s jockey Craig Newitt, rode the three year old perfectly. He sat just off the pace in third place for the duration of most of the race and then hit the lead at the three hundred metre mark and clung on to win by a neck. It was also a super training effort by Mick Price and the Rockmount pretrainer will be aimed for the W.S. Cox Plate in the spring. The group 1 victory continues the great run of breeding success for Bob and Rosemary Scarborough of Wood Nook Farm and full credit to their farm manager of many years Bob Norris. Wood Nook produced another notable winner on March 14th when Naku Penda saluted in the 2 year old maiden at Moonee Valley. The Flying Spur colt is trained by David Hayes and under a patient ride from Brad Rawiller he carried his 57kg easily to victory. The Rockmount pretrainer’s next assignment will be in stakes company. |
