It's the Vibe The Peter Moody trained gelding The Castle has gone straight to the paddock at Rockmount, rather than the pool room, after running two gallant seconds this campaign. Part owned and bred by Peter’s racing secretary Marni Kelly, the Skalato 4 year old gelding hasn’t had his trunk pointing up for good luck as he has been beaten by a short half head and a nose at Donald and Sale.
The Castle’s two stroke engine was on full throttle both runs but just when Marni and the team were feeling the serenity “Bernie”, as he is affectionally known, got pipped at the post both times. Tony Haydon, Peter’s assistant trainer, says racing is 10% brains, 95% fitness and the rest is just good luck, but unfortunately The Castle’s luck has not been in. Being robbed at the post twice, the Moody camp is starting to understand how the Aborigines felt. Bernie is having a well deserved spell here at Rockmount and his next campaign will kick off in a maiden at Bonnie Doon… |
